Our goal is to understand different sleep stages through the extracted features. We have found evidence of sleep stage 2 duality and sleep stage inertia. This project is funded by the &lt;strong>&lt;a href="https://english.chinapostdoctor.org.cn/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">China Postdoctoral Science Foundation.&lt;/a>&lt;/strong>&lt;/p>
&lt;p>Recently, we published our results for seizure detection using the &lt;a href="https://doi.org/10.1109/TNSRE.2023.3253821" target="_blank" rel="noopener">transient variant of the Deep Boltzmann machine.&lt;/a> We extended a similar approach for binary classification of sleep stages. Some brief details are:&lt;/p>
&lt;ul>
&lt;li>Analysis and investigation of steam turbine system of &lt;a href="https://www.shanghai-electric.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Shanghai Electric Power Generation Equipment Co., Ltd. Turbine Plant&lt;/a> from the perspective of fault detection and diagnosis. In this work, manifold learning is adopted for feature extraction and dimensionality reduction. Statistical process monitoring is performed afterward.&lt;/li>
&lt;li>Data from a satellite deployment project is investigated. To the aim, several machine learning and shape analysis-based methods such as Procrustes analysis are adopted to experiment with a wide range of fault cases.&lt;/li>
